We are really happy to launch this specific webpage on the ESPN website dedicated to Young Paediatric Nephrologists across Europe.
First of all, we would like to thank all of you who took an active part in the survey in 2015. Briefly, 59 young European Pediatric Nephrologists answered, at a median age of 35 years (28-40): 53 of them have full-time positions, and among them, 50 paediatric nephrologists were women. We studied different characteristics: general medical education, specific education for paediatric nephrology in the country of origin, daily medical practice, research, teaching, conferences and publications, involvement in national and international societies, use of ESPN website, and eventually participation to ESPN-IPNA Junior Classes. Results have been presented during the ESPN meeting in Brussels, and if you click on this link, you will access the poster with all the details!
The results of this questionnaire help us to bridge the gap, and we hope that all together we can improve collaborations and networking among the future generation of Paediatric Nephrologists in Europe.
We have some ideas for the YPNN: a specific YPNN session during the next ESPN meetings in Glasgow and Antalya, a join YPNN/YPN from the EDTA session at the next EDTA meeting, a social event in Glasgow dedicated to the YPNN, social networking, a forum…
Indeed, the ESPN has many things to offer you, as a young European Paediatric Nephrologist, in addition to the ESPN benefits that are proposed to all ESPN members.
Junior Classes, organized every year since 2014 in collaboration with IPNA and ESPN, with the possibility to obtain a ‘Master’ in Paediatric Nephrology if you attend all classes during 3 years. An ideal way to learn basics in Paediatric Nephrology in a friendly atmosphere with world-famous speakers! Next Junior Classes details will be announced soon…
10 ERA-EDTA annual memberships that are offered yearly to young ESPN members.
CME activity, with the release in 2016 of the “Monthly Clinical Quiz”: as a young Paediatric Nephrologist, if you participate to the contest every month, you can win a free registration to the next ESPN conference. So, do not hesitate to challenge yourself.
As a young Paediatric Nephrologist, if you submit an abstract to an ESPN conference, you may also apply for travel grants and presentation grants.
We still need your input and ideas, do not hesitate to share them with us! We look forward to your input to make this YPNN a lively and stimulating initiative! If you want to be part of the board, please contact us as soon as possible!
